JOSH Benson could potentially be on Barnsley’s bench at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

The midfielder has been injured since mid-November.

Head coach Neill Collins said: “Josh has done well. He trained this week. It will be a late decision for me. He hasn’t played for the under 21s yet.

“Does he play for them on Friday to get minutes or do we include him in our 18? It will depend on what we’ve got available with the first team, what we think we need and what’s best for the long-term. I still need to make that decision but the fact that he is in contention is good.”

Striker Max Watters was not involved with the under 21s on Tuesday. Collins said: “Max has trained with the group this week.

“I will make a decision on whether he plays for the under 21s on Friday or for the first team. He’s still an integral part of our squad. We can only pick so many.”
