BARNSLEY’S Irish midfielder Luca Connell said the Reds need to be more clinical in front of goal following the 0-0 draw against Cheltenham on Saturday.

Barnsley had 18 shots on goal at Oakwell, but only four were on target.

The result leaves the Reds seven points behind Derby County who are in second place.

“I think it was a disappointing result,” he said.

“We always want to come out and get the three points and we deserved it.

“Sometimes this season we’ve got three points and not deserved it.

“You’ve got to be more clinical and break the deadlock.

“I just think we’ve got to be ore clinical but it’s harsh to say.

“It’s the third game we’ve not scored in all season.”

The Reds won’t play again until a week on Friday after Saturday’s game against league leaders Portsmouth was postponed.

“We’ve just got to dust ourselves down and go again,” he said.

“We’ve got to put our chances away.

“We’ll look into it more than we usually would because we’ve got two weeks before the next game.

“We deserved to win the game but we’ll look forward to the next.”
