THE young players from Lacewood Primary School picked up two trophies in 24 hours.

Last Thursday the Bolton-upon-Dearne side edged out Brampton Ellis in the final of the Totty Cup.

They then went one better as they travelled to Liverpool on Friday and won the prestigious Pokemon Cup. They faced teams from all over the north of England and got the better of a Greater Manchester team in the final.

They will now progress to the finals at Derby County on May 17 as part of the final 12 teams of the 5,000 who entered.

Lacewood had to fight hard to win the Totty Cup and overcame Brampton 4-3 at Rawmarsh. Brampton took the lead through Joshua Hardware.

Cohen Mace then won and converted from the spot to level the scores.

Hardware struck again to restore Brampton’s lead. Zak Bridgen’s free-kick ensured parity again before the break.

The Mace brothers turned the game around in the second half with Cohen netting his second before Logan’s looping shot made it 4-2. Oliver Cory got a goal back for Brampton late on but Lacewood had done enough to earn their first Totty Cup in five years.
