Harrison Nejman scored a stunning long-range goal but Barnsley under 21s lost 2-1 at home to Watford on Tuesday.

Nejman, usually a midfielder but playing at right wing-back, curled into the top left corner from 25 yards late on.

The visitors had gone 2-0 up with goals early in each half, while they hit the post twice directly from corners and forced a good save out of Rogan Ravenhill.

Barnsley had plenty of chances as Aiden Marsh – the most senior player in a very young side – was denied by the goalkeeper from close range after good work by Emmaisa Nzondo who shot wide in later in a decent position from a fine Nejman pass.

Raf Monteiro could have levelled in injury-time but shot straight at the goalkeeper from close-range.
