JON RUSSELL, Josh Benson and Robbie Cundy are all back in training and making progress in their returns from injury.

Midfielder Russell has missed the last three games with a hamstring injury. Interim head coach Martin Devaney said: “He could be in contention. He has trained this week and looked OK.”

Defender Cundy has missed the entire season with injury but has been back in training recently along with midfielder Benson who has not played since November.

Devaney said: “They have trained all this week but obviously they need minutes. They could possibly be in contention for Friday (the play-off first leg against Bolton).

“They have missed a lot of football this year. Robbie has been out all season. Josh has been in and out and been really unlucky. For the magnitude of this game, it might be too much too soon but they have certainly trained well and shown really good attitudes.”

Devaney confirmed that American defender Donovan Pines is out for the season but on track to return in pre-season.
