WITH the Wimbledon championships drawing to a conclusion this weekend, Barnsley Tennis Club are also celebrating a successful season.
The town club has nine teams competing in either the Sheffield and District or Wakefield League, with 44 players.
The men’s B and D teams, the women’s first team and mixed first team all won promotion.
Vice chairman John Gregson said: “Barnsley Tennis Club is simply a wonderful place to be at the moment.
“There is such a genuinely happy vibe with people of all ages loving playing this great game of tennis, both socially for fun and competitively for those who want that.
“We currently have 258 members with an excellent and very popular coaching programme with more than 100 juniors learning how to improve their game.
“Who knows if we can unearth the next Andy Murray or Emma Raducanu in our very own town of Barnsley?”
