A BARNSLEY mum-of-three received the call of a lifetime last Friday evening after being told that she’d won more than half a million pounds.

Ausra Egley, 42, from Honeywell, was at home with her husband Stephen preparing for a family weekend when she received the call from Greatest Hits Radio’s Gemma Atkinson after entering the station’s ‘Make Me A Winner’ competition.

She said: “I’d heard that the competition was closing and entered last minute on a whim.

“When the phone rang and I picked up the call to Gemma, it was just absolute disbelief that this could really be her.

“I wasn’t even sure of the amount I’d won and had to go and find my husband so she could repeat it over the phone to him.

“When we heard it was £531,000 I nearly fainted and Stephen jumped up so fast from the sofa that his back went into spasms.”

Ausra met Stephen while working at Blackpool Pleasure Beach having been on a gap year from university in Lithuania - and the pair fell in love and moved back to Stephen’s hometown of Barnsley.

But what are they going to do with the money?

Ausra added: “We have an old car which needs some repairs, but we love it, so we don’t need to replace it yet.

“We’re going on holiday in July to Greece with some of our oldest friends from Blackpool, so it will be lovely to treat both families and celebrate many years of our enduring and lovely friendship.

“Apart from that, we have everything we need and will take as much time as we need to digest the amazing news which ultimately means we have had the pressure of the cost of living lifted and can enjoy being able to lose some of the money worries which are facing all families in the current climate.”
