David Flitcroft's wife and newborn baby boy are still in hospital after a complicated birth.
Flitcroft's third son was born at the weekend and the Reds manager missed the club's Golf Day on Monday due to 'a few difficulties' surrounding the baby's health. Flitcroft told the Chronicle that the baby's condition has dramatically improved and he is hopeful his family will be home in the next few days.
He said: "We've had a little boy and it's been a bit rough. It was a difficult pregnancy and we had a few difficulties. But we've been in hospital with good people. The people I've met this week in hospital are all professional. They don't make mistakes and they don't moan about working until 11.30pm to deliver a baby.
"You hear players moaning about this and that but it brings you back to life when you see what I've seen this week. I can't thank the hospital staff enough for what they've done for me and my family over the last few days."
Flitcroft said he and his wife have still yet to name the baby.
