Scott Nutter was the highest-placed Barnsley AC runner at the National Cross Country Championships when he finished 17th in the under 13s in 11-34. The course at Wollaton Park in Nottingham was extremely muddy.

Meanwhile, Barnsley Harrier Donna Biggs slashed a massive 13-22 off her personal best at the Pocklington Snake Lane Ten-Mile Road Race on Sunday.First Harrier back was Lee Smith in a fine time of 64-12, for 65th out of 807.

Elsewhere, Stephen Whiteley was 53rd at the Great North West Half Marathon in a good time of 85-36.

Penistone Footpath Runner Dave Needham took the first vet65 prize at the hilly Huddersfield 10k Road Race when he finished 191st in 51-31. Trish Griffin was third woman vet55 with 49-48 while Geoff Dimelow was 166th in 50-21.

Penistone Footpath Runners' Barbara Haigh won the final race in the Winter Handicap over a hilly 4.4-mile course. Mick Quinn was fastest on the night.
