Brampton boxer Josh Wale lost on points in his British super bantamweight title fight to James DIckens on Friday night at the Liverpool Echo Arena.

The judges scored the fight 115-112, 115-112, 166-110 in favour of the Liverpudlian, who was twice deducted points for using his head and shoulders.

Wale had hoped to tire his opponent out but, although he did land some painful bodyshots, did not do enough to force the stoppage he needed after DIckens racked up points in the early rounds.

The 26-year-old Barnsley man drew his last British title fight with Gavin McDonnell in May.
