Worsbrough Bridge got their first home win of the season in the Northern Counties East League Division One as they beat Glasshoughton 2-1 in Division One at Grimethorpe Sports Ground.

Centre-back Nick Galloway headed in a corner after eight minutes then Jack Portman doubled the lead on the hour-mark after a goal-mouth scramble. Portman was then sent off for a second booking before a long-range Glasshoughton shot deflected off the head of new signing Andy Dawson and looped over the goalkeeper for an own goal. Bridge's ten men survived the final 15 minutes. The result moves Worsbrough up one place from second bottom to 20th.

At the other end of the table, Penistone Church stayed in the play-off positions with a dramatic 2-1 win at second-placed Hull United. The match was played in front of an impressive attendance of 498 at the KC Lightstream Stadium which is also the home of rugby league side Hull KR. Church took the lead through Steve Kenworthy with a close-range finish after a goalmouth scramble. A Hull player was then sent off for bringing down Kenworthy in the area after a fine throughball from Danny Barlow, whose penalty was saved. Big-spending United, managed by former footballer and boxer Curtis Woodhouse, levelled but substitute Jack Moore won it for Penistone when he headed in a Barlow corner in the 86th minute.

Athersley Rec moved six points clear of the Premier Division relegation zone with a 4-1 success at Parkgate thanks to a Jack Owen treble. Ryan Smith also netted.

Shaw Lane Aquaforce were held 1-1 at home to Chasetown and are nine points behind Evo-Stik Division One South leaders Stafford Rangers.

Dale Dynamos thrashed hosts Euroglaze in a one-sided Barnsley derby in the South Yorkshire Amateur League. Scorers for Worsbrough club Dale at the Dorothy Hyman Stadium were Craig Waistnidge, Jason Finch, Mason Jenkins and Ben McLee.

Former Barnsley FC striker Steven Bennett scored four goals as Grimethorpe Sports won 10-1 at Bawtry Town in Division Two of the County Senior League. Jack Foster added two while the other scorers were Tony Bennett, Adam Storey, Jamie Heavey and a Bawtry player who netted an own goal. Wombwell Main remain unbeaten in Division One after a 4-2 home win over High Green Villa. Ryan Holdsworth notched a treble and Simon Chadburn got the other goal. Houghton Main were knocked off the top of the Premier Division by a 2-1 loss at Swallownest, who overtook them in first place.
