GUITAR legend Graham Oliver, who found fame with metal band Saxon, has played a guitar solo on an album by Barnsley band, the Bar Steward Sons of Val Doonican.

The band is putting together a selection of Barnsley-themed songs, packaged with a reworking of the famous Beatles ‘Sgt Pepper’ album cover featuring Barnsley ‘celebrities’.

The original line-up of Saxon, which formed in Barnsley in the 70s, are included in the montage of faces, but now Graham will also be heard on the CD.

Bar Steward Son Scott Doonican said: “It’s great to have Graham on board. he was really keen to get involved.

“The album should be ready for release very soon.”

Some of the songs can be heard online on the band’s page on Myspace.
