A TEENAGER has made it to the semi-final of Miss Junior Teen Great Britain.

Kadie Leigh Hanlon, of Little Houghton, Barnsley, said she is excited to make it through to the semi-finals and is aiming to raise awareness of bullying. She is also trying to help young girls her age tackle mental health and confidence issues.

The 13-year-old is also raising funds for the charity Together for Short Lives - which helps children living with life-limiting conditions, and their families.

“I found out about Miss Junior Teen Great Britain through my aunt she suggested I should apply I couldn’t believe it when I got through,” said Kadie.

“I wanted to use my position as semi-finalist to raise awareness off bullying and self confidence because I’ve experienced negativity from others through social media and school and think it’s important girls support each other and lift each other up in today’s society.

“I hope I encourage people my age to love their flaws and imperfections and also embrace other people’s. I’m so excited to be in the finals and spend time meeting the other contestants. It is going to be the experience of a lifetime.”

Kadie is set to find out whether she is a finalist for Miss Junior Teen Great Britain soon as the panel have began to contact contestants making it through to the final.
