A MAN who terrorised a couple while riding a quad bike has been handed a suspended prison sentence and restraining order.
Simon Hall, 27, admitted to dangerous driving and was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 12 months, at Sheffield Crown Court last Friday.
He was also banned from driving for 18 months, ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and ten rehabilitation activity requirement days, and issued a 12-month restraining order.
Hall, of Lancaster Street, Thurnscoe, was said to have rammed the couple’s car several times with the quad bike in an altercation on nearby Windsor Street on July 8.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We completely understand just how problematic, and dangerous, off-road bikers have been in Barnsley but residents can be assured that we are taking this very seriously given just how many complaints we receive.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
