NEARLY 1,000 antisocial behaviour notices have been handed out in Barnsley in recent weeks.
At the same time, around 100 incidents of rowdy behaviour were recorded in the town centre.
Outlining the figures, Coun Jenny Platt told Barnsley Council’s cabinet meeting on Wednesday that the authority would continue to work with police to address the problems.
Coun Platt, spokesperson on adults and communities, said there had been 949 notices in the last quarter.
She also said safeguarding referrrals were on the rise.
“We are pleased about this,” she said. “People are becoming more aware and confident and we want to continue to boost these numbers to cut down on those needing assessments further down the line.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
