A COMMEMORATIVE ceremony will take place in Penistone next Friday to remember the Falklands war.
The event will take place at Penistone Grammar School at 11am, and a flag will be handed over to principal Paul Crook for it to be flown on the flagpole for the duration period of the war until June 14. Short speeches will be made on the day to remember those who helped liberate the islands.
There are two other Penistone events remembering the Falklands campaign later this year.
A lighting of the beacon event will take place on June 2, whilst the theme for the Penistone Mayor’s Parade and Gala later that month is ‘local heroes.
