AN inspiring couple have received a special award for their charity work.

Paul and Michael Atwal-Brice, from Thurnscoe, took home an honorary award at the first Fatherhood Awards in London last Saturday.

The couple have four children - two sets of identical twins, Levi and Lucas who suffer with autism and epilepsy, and Lotan and Lance.

“It was amazing - I just couldn’t stop crying,” Paul said.

“The award was for our work promoting inclusive and accessibility for disabled children and all our campaigns - re-legalising cannabis treatments for epilepsy, campaigning for better facilities for disabled children, and encouraging more people to come forward to be adoptive and fosters dads.”

The couple are also ambassadors for Caudwell Children, a charity dedicated to helping autistic children, and have recently launched their podcast - Diffability - to talk about their experiences and help other families feel less alone.

Paul added: “It just felt very emotional, especially as it was the only fatherhood awards in the world.

“We see this award as being for all the families like us.”
