A KIDS’ play area - which closed and was then relocated as a result of a controversial new road system - was officially opened on Thursday.
Deputy Mayor of Barnsley Mick Stowe was on hand at Penny Pie Park, Pogmoor, to welcome the new facility’s first guests from nearby Summer Lane Primary School.
In addition to the playground and multi-use games area, a gated entrance, new signage, noticeboards and new railings have all been installed.
Coun Stowe said: “I was delighted to be able to officially open the much-improved Penny Pie Park - this is a fantastic new community facility and it brought real pleasure to see the excitement of the local children enjoying the new play areas.”
