POLICE who rushed to a loft fire have issued a warning to cannabis growers - after it was found a set-up’s lighting equipment sparked the blaze.
Initially sent to a Wombwell property having received a report of a house fire, officers found plants ablaze in the loft.
A spokesperson said: “This could have been fatal in the extreme heat.
“Cannabis set-ups are extremely dangerous, especially as the electricity is bypassed frequently.
“If this would have happened in the middle of the night, the outcome could have been a lot worse.”
Nobody was hurt in the incident and no other properties damaged.
