A SPORTS van has been fully funded for the summer by a local Barnsley company to help get the town’s kids active.
Reds in the Community, Barnsley FC’s charity, host summer events for youngsters across the borough - and this year’s events have been the first without Covid-19 restrictions.
The van is funded by local area councils and promotes physical activity for children, given them the opportunity to take part in multi-sport activities.
Burrows Motor Company funded the fully electric van entirely for five weeks of this summer.
Head of participation and health, Kieron Campbell, said: “We are so grateful for the team at Burrows for their ongoing support. “Having donated the van for us to use this summer, their generosity has enabled us to deliver high quality multi-sport activities to hundreds of young people across Barnsley, giving them the opportunity to be active and connect with friends in a safe environment.
“To add to this, not only are we delivering this fantastic project, the van that has been donated is fully electric so we are being friendly to the environment as well.
“This is another step forward that contributes to our long term goals around environmental sustainability.”
