BURNT-down homes on Woodland Drive will not be replaced for the time being, it has been revealed.

At yesterday’s full council meeting, a question by Coun Peter Fielding, who represents the Dodworth ward, raised the question of replacing the council houses on the street.

The fire, in Kingstone, began at 3.40pm on July 19 and destroyed four homes with two more badly damaged.

It was confirmed by Coun Robert Frost that no decisions have been made as of yet.

He said: “For the time being, we will be grassing over and gating the site.

“We want to engage and consult the community on the use.”
