A ROYSTON man is appealing for the whereabouts of a community defibrillator after it mysteriously vanished last month - just yards from the village’s police station.
The piece of life-saving equipment has been in situ on The Grove, Station Road, for more than a year thanks to support from the local ward alliance and the Healthy Hearts Group.
However, after it was accessed on December 19 - it’s still not been returned.
John Openshaw, who looks after the area’s defibrillators, told the Chronicle: “It was accessed on Monday, December 19 and it hasn’t been returned since.
“It’s been here about 12 to 18 months.
“We fitted a load on Royston with help from the Healthy Hearts Group and the ward alliance.
“I don’t want to say it’s been stolen but we just want someone to return it.
“We just want to ask if anybody knows where it is.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
