TOM EDWARDS is expected to miss ‘two to three months’ with a medial knee ligament injury.

The defender returned from a month-long absence with a knee injury at Derby County on Sunday but picked up a different knee problem while blocking a cross late in the first half. He is now expected to be out until at least March, although the Reds were waiting for official confirmation today.

Head coach Michael Duff said: “It doesn’t look nice in the video. He’s actually done well not to completely rupture everything in his knee, the way the joint has opened up. It is unfortunate for him and us.”

Mads Andersen is due back after a one-match suspension so is expected to replace Edwards in the back three at Charlton on Saturday.

Duff admitted Barnsley will now look to sign a centre-back in the January transfer window to replace Edwards.
