MEMBERS of Barnsley Woolley Miners’ Cricket Club will be taking part in a ten mile charity walk in a bid to raise funds for a newly-formed mental health charity.
The club, based on Shaw Lane, formed a relationship with the Bee Kind for Honey charity after having hosted their festival last summer.
The walk, which will take place tomorrow, starting at Staithes and finishing in Whitby, hopes to raise £500 which will go to the charity directly, hoping to raise awareness of mental health.
Chairman of the club, Phil Chapman, and vice chairman, Mark Beardsall, will be leading the walk alongside 20 others.
The club’s safeguarding officer, Lisa Chapman, has also been raising funds for the walk.
Last year, the club held a golf day raising money for the same cause.
Phil said: “Bee Kind for Honey is a charity very close to our hearts.
“Gemma Cook initially set up the charity to help youngsters with mental health issues and raise awareness of online bullying after tragically losing her daughter to suicide two years ago.
“The club have decided to do this walk as a pre season get together and to also help the charity raise much-needed funds.”
