A SUCCESSFUL curly hair specialist has made it to the finals of a national health and beauty competition after being announced the best salon in her region.
Emma Kenyon, 41, from the town centre, owner of Studio Hair and Beauty, on St George’s Road, has owned the salon for 12 years, but decided to retrain when she ‘got ahead of the trend’ and saw there was a niche for curly hair five years ago.
Emma told the Chronicle she was ‘overwhelmed’ with the nomination, stating that the majority of her clients travel two to three hours for an appointment.
“Most of my clients are from around Yorkshire, travelling from Leeds, Manchester, York, Lincoln, Hull and Newcastle,” she said.
“I’m well known in the curly hair industry and well known by a variety of curly brands who recommend me for the Yorkshire and northern region.”
The awards were established 30 years ago and celebrate those who make a real difference, recognising talent within the beauty industry and awarding the nominees for their hard work and dedication.
Emma added: “It’s really overwhelming to not just have been nominated, but to be a finalist for this award.
“A lot of my clients have tried other curly salons but then come back to me and say ‘they don’t cut like you do’.”
