BARNSLEY Hockey Club completed their season with a 4-1 win at home to Brigg.

Chris Shaw scored a hat-trick with Bryce Tuckett also netting.

Captain James Shaw said: “The only team in the league we have failed to beat this season were Chesterfield who won the league by a landslide.

“We were very unlucky with injuries before the Christmas break. But since then we have played some of the best hockey I have ever seen at the club, especially the win at Louth when we travelled with only ten men.

"The club is going from strength to strength as we now have an under tens and under 12s and a development team.

"This time last season we had no junior teams. We may not have achieved our goal of promotion this season but we will build on it and, if we can get through the majority of next season injury-free, there isn’t a team in the league we can’t beat.”
