POLICE officers have released CCTV images of two individuals they believe could hold valuable information about a theft in the town centre last month - in which a large quantity of money was stolen from an elderly couple.
It is reported that at around 11am on Saturday, April 1, the victims - a couple in their 80s - withdrew a quantity of money from a bank on Eldon Street.
It is understood that the couple were observed making this transaction in the bank by a woman, who was then joined by a second woman and the pair followed the elderly couple onto Peel Square and into a shop off Market Street.
Whilst the victims were in the shop, it is believed that the money was taken from the elderly woman’s bag without her noticing.
Officers are now keen to hear from the individuals shown, or anyone who recognises them.
