A PROUD mum has nominated her daughter for a Proud of Barnsley award after the caring youngster braved the chop for charity.
Nine-year-old Amelia Hepplestone donated ten inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides children and young people with real hair wigs after cancer treatment.
Her mum Lauren said: “My daughter Amelia who has just turned nine came to me earlier this year and asked if she could donate her hair to charity.
"I did a bit of research about it and found a charity called the Little Princess Trust.
"After doing the research I took Amelia to our hairdressers (Platinum Style) and she braved the chop.
"She has donated ten incesh of her hair. She made this decision to donate her hair all by herself and said that she wanted to make a difference for another little girl that didn't have any hair.
“I thought she might have had doubts on the day, or nerves at least, but she didn’t and never stopped smiling all the way through.
“I’m beyond proud of Amelia I thought it was a really lovely idea wanting to donate her hair and give back to those less fortunate.”
"I think she is extremely brave and I am incredibly proud of her. She is such a caring and giving little girl."
