CRIMINALS posing as door-to-door salesmen are being treated as a priority by police due to growing concerns from elderly residents.

The Chronicle can reveal ‘pop-up’ police stations have been appearing in areas of Penistone where older people live.

Patrols are also being increased to provide assurance.

A police report said: “A group of door-to-door sellers were located and one was charged with burglary due to him entering a property.

“Pop-up police stations have been held in prominent areas to give put information and crime prevention advice to local residents.”
