Wombwell Town beat fellow Barnsley club Worsbrough Bridge 5-0 on Tuesday but results elsewhere all-but ended their promotion chances from NCEL Division One.
The scorers were Edward Agnew, twice, Morgan James, Jordan Kershaw and Daniel Youel.
With three games left, Town can still reach 92 points with teams above them Wakefield and Parkgate needing one more win each to deny them a place in the play-offs.
Meanwhile, Penistone Church reserves are on the brink of the County Senior Premier Division title after a 2-0 win at third-placed neighbours Dodworth MW on Tuesday.
Brad Kemp and Reece High scored for Church who now need two points from their remaining three games to win the title. They host Wombwell Main on Saturday in another Barnsley derby.
They have won their last 11 games, with eight clean sheets, and are unbeaten in 18.
