A PAIR of Barnsley FC fans will be hoping the Reds can secure their place in the League One play-offs tomorrow for more than one reason.

Alison Hirst, 62, and her mum 90-year-old Audrey Brook, of Pogmoor, will arrive at Barnsley’s final game of the season tomorrow at Oakwell knowing a win would not only book the Reds a play-off place but also a spot on TV screens across the country.

They were selected by Sky Sports to feature in an advert which will run over the next few weeks - and Alison said her first experience of filming was a good one.

“I saw that a casting agency were looking for football fans who were going to be involved in the play-offs,” she said.

“We had to send a video of me and my mum and then some pictures which we submitted.

“We were selected by Sky Sports and last Tuesday they came to my mum’s house to do some filming.

“We had to pretend we were driving to Wembley and were singing Barnsley songs.

“It was an experience - it was just amazing and I’ve never done anything like that before.

“I’ve been going to games for 24 years, the same as my mum, ever since my dad passed away in 2000.

“She took on his season ticket and I sat next to her.

“I’m just hoping that we win on Saturday now.”
