Barnsley Sunday League Division Two side Royal Albert won the Sheffield Sunday Junior Cup with a 4-2 success against Rotherham’s Pewter Pot.

Jordan Crookes put them ahead early on then set up Daniel Morris to make it 2-0. It was three just before the break when Matthew Vaines’ lob hit the bar but Pewter defender Ryan Barker sliced his clearance into his own net. Barker made amends in the second half as he pulled one back but Crookes scored his second five minutes from Dale Pickering’s long throw to make it 4-1. Pewter Pot were reduced to ten men but scored again.

Athersley Recreation need one point from their final two games in the Northern Counties East League after they drew 1-1 in their top-of-the-table clash at Albion Sports in Bradford on Saturday.

Joe Thornton put Rec ahead with their 100th league goal of the season midway through the second half but the hosts levelled with 12 minutes to play and are now four points clear at the top with two games to play. Two sides go up and Athersley need one more point to be uncatchable.

Shaw Lane Aquaforce stayed top of the County Senior League with a 5-0 win at home to Davy in which Danny Frost scored a fantastic four and Richard Glover also netted.

Houghton Main, who led the league for most of the season, cannot win the title after some recent poor form. They lost 3-0 at home to Handsworth on Saturday then drew 0-0 at South Kirkby on Monday.
