POLICE were called to a Hemingfield school following reports of a stranger at the gates.
Officers were called to the Ellis Church of England school, on School Street, at 8.50am last Friday after parents reported a man behaving suspiciously nearby.
One parent, who did not wish to be named, said the man was standing at the school gates wearing no shoes, and that the school was put on 'lockdown' whilst staff and police dealt with the situation.
A police spokeswoman confirmed officers attended the scene and escorted the man home.
