Darton, Woolley and Worsbrough Bridge all gained promotion on the final day of their seasons.

Woolley secured the second promotion place in Division Three West of the South Yorkshire League behind champions Silkstone United a year after both clubs joined from the Huddersfield Central League. The match between Silkstone and third-placed Barnsley 3rd XI was rained off which confirmed Woolley would finish in the second of two promotion places then they finished their season with a win over Millhouses.

Worsbrough Bridge will join Woolley in Division Two after they gained promotion from Division Three East even though their final match was rained off. The two points Bridge collected from the cancelled game on Saturday secured the second promotion spot and were the difference between them and third-placed Wombwell Main who could not pick up the bonus points they needed in their win at Maltby.

Darton added the Pontefract League Division Three title to the AJS Teamwear Trophy they picked up earlier in the season – ending a wait of 17 years for silverware with a double. Darton beat Brodsworth Main to secure first place.Ryhill and Havercroft finished in the Division Four relegation zone despite a third straight win while West Bretton lost but still stayed in Division One.

Green Moor were the only Huddersfield Central Premier League side to win on a rainy Saturday but they can no longer retain their title. They bowled visitors Nortonthorpe out for 118 but, although the result moved them up two places to second, Green Moor’s total of 160 for eight did not give them the bonus points they needed to stay in contention for the title. They are now 21 points behind champions Heckmondwike and Carlinghow with a maximum of 20 available from the final match at Edgerton and Dalton tomorrow.
