Barnsley will return to League One with a game at home to Oxford United on August 4.

It will be a repeat of the 2016 Johnstone's Paint Trophy final in which Barnsley beat the Us 3-2 at Wembley.

The relegated Reds will then travel to local rivals Bradford City for their first away match of the season on August 11.

Their derbies against Doncaster Rovers will be on November 24 at Oakwell and March 16 at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Barnsley's Christmas schedule sees them host Peterborough United on Boxing Day, Charlton Athletic on December 30 and then visit Luton Town on January 1.

The Easter weekend sees them take on Shrewsbury Town on Friday April 19 then make the longest trip of the season to Plymouth Argyle on Monday April 22.

The final match of the season is another long trip to Bristol Rovers.

Barnsley have already been drawn away at League One rivals Blackpool in the first round of the Carabao Cup, on the week commencing August 13.
