The trio of ex-Barnsley players in the Rochdale squad are being told to treat tomorrow as just another game.

Stephen Dawson and Tom Kennedy left the Reds in the summer while Matty Done was released a year earlier.

While Kennedy has been on the bench recently, Dawson and Done are expected to start the game at Spotland and their good form has seen Rochdale move into fifth position in League One.

Done was the subject of a £750,000 bid from Crystal Palace while at Oakwell and Dawson rejected a new contract with the Reds in the summer.

Former boss Keith Hill decided not to do interviews with any media outlets prior to the game.

His assistant manager Chris Beech said: "Playing up front is something Matty has never done, not even as an under ten, but he has taken to that position and all the accolades he's been getting are fully deserved.

"Dawson has been our driver. He's a worker bee. We had to fight hard to sign him but we're glad we did.

"Letting Dawson go probably freed up money to bring someone like Conor Hourihane in. Barnsley spent some money in the summer. We can't compete with that. All we can do is stick to our traits, beliefs and principles.

"The players we have are professional and will see it as a chance to get three points. Keith's doing great and the players are right behind his message."

Reds boss Danny Wilson said: "Keith's done very, very well at Rochdale. "Stephen Dawson will certainly be up for the game. Unfortunately it didn't work out for him and he left but I've got a lot of respect for him."
