It has been a fantastic week for Penistone Church who extended their unbeaten home run to 17 matches across more than six months on Saturday then gained an impressive away win at second-placed Pontefract Collieries on Tuesday.

Since losing to Handsworth Parramore on September 23, Church have won 13 and drawn four of their matches at the Memorial Ground in all competitions. They have lost two of their last 24 home or away, winning 16 in that run including all of their last four.

Tom Brennan put Penistone ahead on five minutes then – after a Hemsworth man was sent off – Kieran Ryan doubled the lead in the second half only for the visitors to make it 2-1 almost immediately. Nathan Keightley secured the victory late on and Penistone moved above both Hemsworth and Bridlington Town into seventh.

They stayed there with the midweek win at promotion-chasing Pontefract. The hosts led 1-0 at half-time but Church's Danny Howes levelled then Ryan won it.

Meanwhile, Athersley Rec lost 2-1 at Rainworth MW on Saturday after Kai Hancock had put them in front. They lost 4-0 at home to Handsworth Parramore in the League Cup on Monday.
