Frustrated winger Lloyd Isgrove feels he needs a run of six games to get his match sharpness fully back.

The Welsh international, 24, has not enjoyed the best return to Oakwell so far with injuries restricting him to just five appearances.

He returned to the starting eleven against Preston on Boxing Day and now wants to remain in the team and help the club move away from danger.

He said: "It's been tough for me this season and I have been getting set-backs.

"You just have to come back stronger.

"I am just taking every day as it comes really and just managing myself as well as I can.

"I don't want to overload it too much. If I play I have to get my recovery right.

"We have hard sessions and over Christmas, with all the games, it is manic and I have just got to be really careful.

"I can't say it is not frustrating because I want to be out there every week training and playing but that is not the way it has gone.

"I am trying my hardest to get back out there. I am getting there.

"In this league I would say it takes a good six or seven games in a row to get your proper fitness. I am just building at the moment.

"I try and bring as much as I can to the team and energy which helps the other players. If they see me trying my hardest and making tackles it gives them a little lift.

"If every player has that little lift it can help the team to perform better."

Following the recent takeover, players are expected to join the club in January and it is something Isgrove welcomes.

He added: "I don't think we need too much to be fair. We haven't had the same team throughout the whole season.

"If the same team got a good run of games then we might start building and doing well but that is totally up to the gaffer.

"It's quite a big squad and there is at least two players for every position.

"There is competition now and more faces would mean even more."

Isgrove accepts that the attacking players need to do more.

"The clean sheets recently have given us something to build on and it's up to us at the other end to start chipping in with some goals," he added.

Head coach Paul Heckingbottom is pleased to have Isgrove back among his options.

He said: "It's good to have him back and he is a different type of winger to the other boys.

"He adds great energy and work ethic and you need those types of players in your team."
