THE National Grid arranged for a team of mad scientists to visit Barugh Green Primary School to encourage more kids to be interested in ‘STEM’ subjects - science, technology, engineering and maths.

Mad Science Day included workshops designed to spark an interest in science and engineering as career options.

Claire Coates, science subject leader at Barugh Green Primary School, said: “We are really grateful National Grid helped to organise a Mad Science Day at the school. It was a fantastic day and we really enjoyed the workshops.

“The children have been watching in awe as the team from National Grid replace the overhead lines particularly as most of the work has been done in the air.”

The National Grid is currently repairing and maintaining the overhead line between Stocksbridge and Thorpe Marsh. This line runs through Barugh Green.
