Barnsley have signed three players for their under 21s squad while another dozen could arrive on trial.

Callum Evans, 20, has joined from Manchester United. He has penned a one-year deal with an option of a second year.

Centre-back Cameron Scott, from Blackburn Rovers, and midfielder Ben Drennan – formerly of Newcastle – have also signed one-year deals after trials at the end of last season.

Chief executive Ben Mansford said: "We are hoping to have a strong under 21s side next season and there will be up to 12 players in on trial next week." Highly-rated former Liverpool academy midfielder Wade Maxwell is also expected to sign at Oakwell as a second year academy scholar.
