A NURSERY has performed well in its recent inspection by the education watchdog, Ofsted.
Sandpit Nursery, on Pitt Street, received a ‘good’ score after it was inspected just before Christmas on December 13.
The findings were released on Friday which showed the nursery performs at a good level across the board.
Hayley Ruane, Ofsted inspector said: “Staff provide plenty of opportunities for children to develop their communication and language skills.
“Staff work well as a team and are good role models. They plan activities that children enjoy. The manager supports her staff well in their roles through, for example, supervisory and appraisal meetings. She provides staff with ideas and different ways that they can support children, helping to extend their professional development. The provider regularly checks staff’s knowledge of the learning and development requirements and their knowledge of safeguarding. Staff provide consistently good teaching.”
During the inspection, Hayley spoke to staff including the manager and parents. She also observed indoor and outdoor activities and looked through relevant documents.
Dawn Shapcott, nursery manager, said: “We are delighted with our recent inspection result, which is our first as part of the 1st Safari Day Nurseries Group. I am really proud of all the hard work and dedication my team put in to support the children and families in our care. We will continue to work hard to give the children in our care the best start we can.”
In order to further improve, Hayley advised the nursery to ‘gather more information from parents when children first start to help plan more precisely for their learning’, and ‘strengthen partnerships with other early years settings and schools children attend and develop more effective ways to gather and share information about children’s learning and development’.
