Irishman John O'Sullivan says he is Barnsley's 'lucky charm' and that he wants to complete his loan spell with wins in every match.

The 21-year-old winger arrived on a month's loan from Blackburn Rovers following the Reds' 5-1 defeat at Crawley but has played in the last four matches which have brought wins and clean sheets. With three games coming up before he is due to return to Championship club Blackburn, he wants to make it seven wins from seven.

"I must be a lucky charm," O'Sullivan, who has a slight hamstring problem, told the Chronicle. He added: "When I came here I wanted to win every game in the month and I am halfway there. The team are flying and it's definitely possible."

Barnsley made a bid to sign O'Sullivan permanently on New Year's Eve when Danny Wilson was manager. Although they agreed terms with both the player and Rovers, Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer blocked the deal until allowing the winger to come out on loan two weeks ago. O'Sullivan, who signed a new contract at Ewood Park until 2016 last month, is reluctant to talk about where he will end up playing permanently but says he only wanted to leave Blackburn to play for Barnsley.

"I have been pushing for this move since the first of January. There were a couple of other clubs in for me but I just wanted to come to Barnsley. They have got great facilities and fans and they should be higher than League One. The transfer embargo at Blackburn didn't help but the gaffer didn't want me to leave. He thinks I have potential to play for Blackburn in the future. I don't know the full story.

"It's not down to me whether I stay at Barnsley. There's a lot of injuries at Blackburn so they might need me and the gaffer at Barnsley might not want me. "I don't think it was just Danny Wilson who targeted me, it was the club as a whole. A few people who came to watch me are still at the club."
