Barnsley conceded a late equaliser as they drew 2-2 in their final home pre-season friendly against Premier League Hull City on Tuesday.

After mix-up gifted the visitors an early goal, Tom Bradshaw produced two good finishes to put the Reds ahead only for the Tigers to level in the 87th minute.

Paul Heckingbottom made three changes from the team that lost 3-0 at home to another Premier League side Everton three days earlier. Nick Townsend came in in goal for Adam Davies while Marley Watkins replaced Elliot Lee, Josh Scowen took George Moncur's place and James Bree was swapped in for Andy Yiadom.

Barnsley began well with Sam Winnall heading an Adam Hammill cross onto the roof of the net then testing visiting goalkeeper Dusan Kuciak with another header from a Bree cross. Alfie Mawson headed just off target from a Conor Hourihane cross while Watkins rifled a shot just wide from outside the box.

But, after a quiet start, Hull were let back into the game by their hosts. Nick Townsend made a good one-on-one stop to deny Peter Odemwingie after a long ball unlocked the Reds defence. Townsend and Marc Roberts then both hesitated while trying to cut out another long ball and Adama Diomande nipped in to tap in after 14 minutes.

It was 1-1 after half an hour when Bradshaw met a left-wing Hammill cross in the middle of the box and looped an excellent header into the top left corner.

Heckingbottom made three half-time changes as he brought Moncur and Lee on for Winnall and Hammill while Callum Evans replaced Aidy White at left-back.

Eight minutes into the second half, Barnsley took the lead as Bree crossed low from the right wing and Bradshaw fired in from eight yards out off the right post.

Barnsley made a lot changes in the second half, with trialist Sessi D'Almeida having a decent 20-minute cameo as did strikers Stefan Payne and Shaun Tuton.

Despite the changes, the Reds remained on top with Hull failing to carve out any meaningful chances after the break until their 87th minute leveller.

After a burst into the box from the right wing, substitute Jarrod Bird lashed the ball high into the net for 2-2.

Barnsley will now complete their pre-season at League One Peterborough on Saturday before the Championship season begins on August 6.
