The Metrodome staged Europe's fifth successive Weber Cup victory over the USA after three thrilling days of ten pin bowling action this week.

The two teams were level at 11-11 early on the final day on Sunday but Europe, who had trailed 8-6 after two sessions, won eight of the last nine contests to triumph 19-12 overall. There were around 2,000 fans there across the three days which were all broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Englishman Dom Barrett, after making a record tenth Weber Cup appearance, said: "It was fantastic to be back in Barnsley. The crowd there have always been like a fifth player on the team but always give the Americans full respect. I bowl all over the world but there is something special about the Weber Cup arena at the Metrodome.

"I wish every event we played could replicate that atmosphere.I am extremely proud to win. The USA came out firing, it is their best team for quite a few years and they showed that early. They got us down in a spot we hadn't been in for a few years and we had to dig really deep. We found our best and went on a hell of a run.

"It was 16-5 for the last 21 points and that is incredible and is down to the communication we had, how we gel as a team and the experience we have."
