RELAXED visiting guidelines at Barnsley Hospital have come into effect.
One person per patient will be allowed to come to hospital, but visits may be short in terms of duration and visitors will book their time slots via ward teams, in advance.
Some further exceptions will be made for patients receiving end-of-life care and for patients who have specific care needs being met by family or carers.
A spokesperson said: “We are still urging visitors not to attend if they are showing any signs of symptoms of Covid-19, including a high temperature, persistent cough or loss of taste and smell.
“The trust’s position on visiting is under constant review and may be subject to change at any time.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
