STAFF at Barnsley Animal Rescue Charity have thanked residents for their generosity after being inundated with donations.
The BARC shop on Hoyland Road, Hoyland, was forced to close its doors during the lockdown but has since reopened with new social distancing measures.
Since its opening, the shop has been swamped with donations from residents - with many saving the items over the last few months.
Barry Atkinson, manager at the store, has been blown away with the support and has said that these donations are more important now than ever before.
He told the Chronicle: “It was absolutely unbelievable when we arrived to see the donations.
“Although it’s a lot of work to wade through, we have to think that this all represents vital funds for animals who need it most - we’re in no position to turn it away.
“Times have been tough, but we’ve been supported by local residents who have had our backs throughout.
“These donations will be used to raise funds for veterinary fees and vital care for our vulnerable animals and pets.
“We’ve started work on these donations and look forward to continue our fundraising efforts.
“Thank you to everyone for their kindness.”
