ALMOST 70 per cent of adults in Barnsley are fully vaccinated against coronavirus.

Since the start of the vaccination programme in December, more than 313,000 vaccinations have been administered in Barnsley.

A total of 143,027 of adults are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus - a 69.9 per cent uptake.

More than 170,000 residents have had at least one dose of their vaccine - an 83.2 per cent uptake.

Julia Burrows, the town’s director of public health, said: “It is wonderful that those who have had two doses are at a hugely reduced risk of becoming seriously ill.”
