DODWORTH school teacher Sue Bailey’s long quest to win a medal at a Paralympic Games has finally been completed.
The 48-year-old had been to every Paralympics dating back to Sydney in 2000 but a medal had always been beyond her grasp.
But she secured bronze on Tuesday as her and partner Megan Shackleton beat the Jordanian team.
Defeat in Wednesday’s semi-final against China has not taken the shine off a special moment for her.
She said: “It’s been such a long time coming so I’m thrilled to bits.”
