On September 4 at 10.30pm, police were called following reports that the victim, Graham Linstead, had been attacked on Pitt Street.

Emergency services were also called and the man was taken to hospital where he died on September 8 as a result of his injuries.

A 38-year-old man, Ricky Braithwaite, of Newton Street, was arrested and initially charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm.
