ONE hundred chairs which have seated Barnsley cinemagoers for at least 30 years have been ‘fought over’ after being put up for sale before being replaced, according to the cinema’s director.
Parkway boss Rob Younger put out a Facebook post asking people to let him know if they would be interested in the well-worn second-hand chairs, the response to which he said has been ‘phenomenal’.
“I just can’t believe how many people want them,” he said.
“I thought we would be struggling to get rid of them all but we’ve pretty much had people fighting over them.
“One guy took six in one go for his home ‘man cave’, I’m just so surprised.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
